Our basalt quarry


The natural raw material basalt is not only used today in many different areas of application. The Romans and the Celts already used basalt. For example, basalt was used as paving stone for the construction of the Via Appia from Rome to Brindisi. High-quality millstones and memorial stones were also made from basalt. The use of the raw material began around 7,000 years ago when it was discovered that the positive properties of the natural rock allow it to be used in a variety of ways. And the basalt quarry is still very important today, because basalt is still a frequently used material.

It is assumed that each basalt quarry in our region was formed up to seventy million years ago. The origin is due to volcanic activity in underground streams and lakes formed by lava. Our basalt quarry is located on the edge of the Westerwald in close proximity to the border triangle of North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse. We offer you the natural raw material in our on-site basalt quarry in various forms of processing, for example as basalt stones, basalt gravel or basalt chippings.
